iPhone : Viber me fait vibrer !

Oo
Hello,
Please explain to me – all the users on ORANGE network have that problem, or only you?
Viber.
Hi,
Thanks for your comment…
I have another mobile on Orange Network and I never receive the access code by SMS !
I’ve tried the time…
Regards,
Oo
Finally, I have received one. I will try this evening and let you know!
Hi,
I have tried on my mobile and it works fine. It takes some time to receive the SMS [Faster on SFR]…
Oo
I’m glad it worked!
We heard some people in France have problems with receiving the code via SMS. for those users, we have a new solution:
http://support.viber.com/entries/360078-what-should-i-do-if-i-don-t-receive-my-sms-access-code
and also – do you know if there is a problem in France to users only from specific networks?
or Viber works to all users from all networks?
Merci,
Viber.
Hi,
I’ve heard about problems on Orange… I have invited several friends on other network. I’ll check with them and I’ll let you know.
De rien,
Oo
Thank you very much 🙂
I’ll wait for your answer…
Viber.
HI,
I’ve tried tonight from SFR to SFR and it works fine. It really depends on the WiFi connection. Anyway, I have spent 1H calling with my friend.
Also, I have installed Viber on a BOUYGUES networked iPhone and there is no problem in receiving the famous SMS. I wil try later to call my friend.
See ya,
Oo
Hi,
I’m on Orange network too and when a call comes in and I answer I can’t Heard the caller (on Bouygues network for instance). Maybe network provider bloks data flow…
ThanKs for your advice.
Regards.
YLn
Hi YLn,
so you cannot use Viber at all? or only SOMETIMES you can’t hear the caller?
Viber.
Some infos…
It seems that calling from 3G to Wifi works fine (Bouygues to SFR) but when calling from Wifi (SFR or whatever,it does not matter) to Bouygues 3G, it does not work (ringing and ringing with no end).
BTW, when a friend iPhone is not under Wifi or3G stuff (Edge…), there should be a time out stuff which triggers a automatic voice-info telling us that the dialed-number is not available via Viber for now…
Hello,
Right now I can’t use the aps.
Cheers.
doclands and YLn,
about Edge – Edge network is too slow for Viber to work in. In future versions will show a message that says that, as you suggested.
I get many different reports about different networks where Viber doesn’t work. someone told me that Bouygues doesn’t work AT ALL.
We are trying to understand if there is a problem to all French users (maybe on a specific network) or a personal problem only for you two. if you can help us with correct information (after testing), it will help us fix your problem and allow you to use Viber 🙂
Merci.
I installed this application that seemed really interesting. Once installed as indicated, I made my first call, and there itrings, it rings but nobody picks up … and for good reason, the caller receives no call … curious, isn’t it? (I made this call from a friend who had Viber on his Iphone and who was beside me). I uninstalled and reinstalled the application with no more success … Thanks for your answers
Impossible to click to “continue” apres to have entered the phone number ” 621 ……..12″
on iphone V1
Bonjour Benpott and mistermicke,
Benpott – does the person you are calling also have Viber installed on his/her iPhone?
Are you sure Viber works well for him?
Did you try calling other people, to check if this is a specific problem with your contact?
mistermicke – officially, Viber only supports iPhone 3G and above 🙁
Do you have a jailbreak or unlocked iPhone?
Viber.
hi
thank’s for your answer
i have just jailbreack, sorry for my bad english, im french.
Vibre is not combatible to V1?
i use wifi, not edge
thank’s
Could he have an error of coding in the application there? Because this problem occurs frequently on various version of IOS, jailbreaked or not, desimlocked or not and as well on V1, G3, G3s and G4.
M
You are describing two different problems.
first – Viber OFFICIALLY supports only iPhone 3G and above (V1 should not be supported).
but – there is another problem – jailbreak/unlocked phones. unlocked phones make Push Notifications not work well on your iPhone. this interferes with Viber from working, and gets you stuck on the “Continue” button.
Some users in our Support Forums suggested to use something called “Push Doctor”, and they said it fixed their problem, but let me emphasize – Push Doctor is *NOT* an official solution from Viber Media company.
I would appreciate if you updated me if it worked it not.
Merci,
Viber.
Hello, for a better solution than push doctor, you can activate your iDevice with SAM Activation.
More information here : http://www.bingner.com/SAM.html
ça marche très très bien sur Orange et iphone4
Hi Viber,
After looking on internet many pages, i’m quite sure that Bouygues Telecom blocks VoIP on 3G network.
All Bouygues users have the same problem than me in 3G : i ear the ring as a normal call, but when my friend takes the call, it still rings for me and she ears nothing.
On my phone, it displays “calling” and on her phone, it displays “receiving” but still ringing for me and nothing for her.
I tried with a friend on Orange : always the same. This 2nd friend just tried from Orange to Orange and it works fine for him.
I continue looking for a solution, i’ve tried the application “My3G” to simulate wifi (my phone is jailbroken) but it doesn’t work… i will try with wifi as soon as i can?
I have a few skill in programming, don’t hesitate to contact me for tests (you can give us an email to contact you), I will be very happy to help you (and you to help me) !
Regards,
bLd
Bonjour,
First – thank you so much for this information. you are helping us a lot 🙂
I would appreciate if you could try the following:
1. Try it on WiFi from your phone. just to make sure that the problem really is only on 3G.
2. Have you tried contacting your provider (Bouygues) and asking them? I’m not sure they will admit that they actually do it, but it’s worth a try.
3. If you have the time, please join our France page in our Viber Forums. you can find it here: http://support.viber.com/entries/382241-viber-in-france-tested-on-wifi-and-3g-not-fully-working
I can guarantee that messages and information from people like you help us improve Viber every day, and we try to solve this issue as quickly as possible.
Merci, and I’m awaiting your reply,
Viber.
thank’s for your answer
Do you intend to developer the application in compatibility with V1?
For now it is not planned 🙁
We apologize for the inconvenience.
You can try the “Push Doctor” solution I wrote about in my original reply to your message.
Viber.
i have problem, push doctor don’t want to install ^^

thank for update, now viber is compatible to v1, but it would seem that we cannot send of message,
what do you mean “but it would seem that we cannot send of message”?
I’m not sure I understood…
lol, i’m sorry for my very bad english, i can’t click on “text message”
a friend saw this : In fact sending text messages makes my phone bill bigger because it sent by the native application of iPhone. Why do not create text messaging with viber ?
Set apart this problem, Viber 1.1 run correctly on iphone V1( jailbreaked)
Viber will have free Text Messaging (SMS) service in our next version, in Febuary 🙂
Thank you, it is an excellent news, i wait with Impatience , you make an excellent work!!
Hi,
Thanks for this update, I just installed it, I will look at the release note.
@ Viber : i’ve just tested on Wifi and it works fine, no problem. I suppose this confirms that Bouygues blocks VoIP communications on his network…
I posted the same message on your forum, don’t hesitate to contact me directly if you want me to make advanced tests.
For your second question, I’ve not even tried to contact Bouygues : it’s expensive to contact them, just to get the following answer by an operator base in Asia who talks french with many difficulties : “I don’t know i’m not aware about that, please send us a mail”.
From my part, I noticed a few functions missing in the application, maybe some ideas for future improvements :
– Bluetooth management, would be very great to be able to use my bluetooth with Viber
– “Multi-conference”, the Iphone allows to use conf call function but french operators (at least Bouygues) block it.
Thanks again for this great application !
Regards,
bLd
Hi,
Just a quick update, i’ve just installed the update tu 1.1.0 and it’s still not working on Bouygues, the ring sound has changed but the result is the same, “calling” for me, “answering” for my friend.
bLd
bld – MERCI! this information is very important to us.
About the features you requested – these are all things we are working on, but some of them are a little complex, so they take time to developt. they will appear in future versions of Viber.
About your offer to help us test Viber in Bouygues – we would love that!
That’s a great idea.
Please contact me via mail at ittai@viber.com
Mention there that we met in this blog, and that you are on Bouygues network.
I will contact you within a few days from your mail, and we will hopefully help each other make Viber work :))
I thank you again for your devotion,
Viber.
Bouygues Block voip,u can’t use this type of app with this operator
Yes, Bouygues blocks Viber on 3G, we know that and we are trying to workaround it.
By the way – is VoIP blocking even legal in France?
By the way – you can still use Viber on WiFi..
legal or not, Bouyges Block voip (And ours freedom? )but it’s right, you can use wifi
Hi all,
Anyway, you can resign your Bouygues subscription legaly with the rise of the tax 🙂
It’s not really a solution but you can move propermy if you want.
Regards,
Oo
Hello Mister Viber,
I have bought my Iphone 4 from the Apple store of Paris (Opéra) last week. It’s an unlocked phone. When i set up the application it’s steels blocked at the “continue step” when you have to fill in your phone number (i tried with a moroccan number and with a french one and it doensn’t work.). I tried several times by uninstalling and reinstalling and it stills not working. I tried with various phone numbers and it’s the same. I have verified the notifications are activated. I don’t kow how to do..
Thank you in advance for your help.
Bonjour Mister M,
As i wrote above, this is a known problem with unlocked phones – it interferes with Push Notifications, and this doesn’t allow Viber to work properly.
We heard that some users fixed this with an application called “Push Doctor”, and someone in this forum wrote this:
“Hello, for a better solution than push doctor, you can activate your iDevice with SAM Activation.
More information here : http://www.bingner.com/SAM.html”
You can try this solution, but please let me clarify that this is *NOT* an official solution from Viber Media.
Waiting to hear updates 🙂
Viber.
bld –
est-il un moyen de vous contacter?
Hi,
Sorry for the delay, I just sent you en email at ittai@viber.com.
Regards,
bLd
Hi to all,
Here are a few informations after calling Bouygues and about your last coments :
VoIP is actually blocked on most of Bouygues contracts (Ideo, Neo…), it’s only allowed with the special Iphone contract that is very expensive… nobody has suscribed it in France!
I don’t know if it’s legal, does somebody contacted a consumer association (like ’60 millions de consommateurs’) ?
@ Oo : Bouygues mobile customers are not concerned by the raise of the tax, their contracts will not change price so all Bouygues customers like me are still engaged.
In my opinion, changing operator is not a solution, SFR and Orange will probably block VoIP too once they will that their customers use it more and more.
Please, don’t post messages to explain your own problems that can be solved just by having a look on Viber’s website FAQ. We have the chance to have a Viber team member following this subject and helping us, please don’t make him loose his time because you didn’t entered correctly your phone number at the begining or something like that…
Regards,
bLd
Thank you for the info bld.
We (Viber Media) are working on the problem, and we might even try to contact the relevant cellular companies if we need.
Our goal is to help French users use Viber 🙂 Hopefully we will manage to achieve this soon.
I will keep you updated.
Merci,
Viber.
Bonjour everyone,
I would appreciate if someone could help me with the following questions:
1. Is Viber blocked today only in Bouygues 3G in France?
2. If so, is ALL VoIP blocked in Bouygues 3G? We know Viber doesn’t work, but do other VoIP services work? (like Skype, for example).
Merci!
Viber.
hi,
All voip are blocket in bouygues in france, is’nt just Viber 😉
Merci.
We are now trying to work on a solution for Bouygues 3G right now.
I will post a message here if there are any developments 😉
Viber.
Bonjour,
We would like to deliver a message from our company to all our users:
Recently there have been some complaints about Viber calls that don’t get through, or over-consumption of battery. We have realized that many users choose to completely shut Viber off when they don’t call (relying on Push Notifications for receiving calls).
But this solution actually causes the reverse effect – it disrupts incoming calls, and it wastes battery life, trying to activate the Push Notification mechanism each time a call is received.
For those of you with iPhone 3Gs and up (with “Multitasking”) – we advise all our users to keep their Viber running in the background, thus saving battery life and hopefully fixing the “Missed Call” bug.
Thanks, and as usual if you have more questions please let me know,
Viber.
Hello everyone,
I am excited to inform you that within the next few days our new version – Viber 2.0 – will be available for download in AppStore.
So what’s new in Viber 2.0?
– OUR NEW TEXT MESSAGING SERVICE!
– TONS of bug fixes, including connectivity problems, issues with users who aren’t identified as Viber users, and many many more.
– An improved calling mechanism that allows you to know if the other side’s Viber is actually ringing
– A “Don’t show this message again” option when trying to make a regular GSM call through Viber
– A new, easy option to deactivate your Viber account from inside the application itself
– Relocation of “Favorites” tab
I would like to remind you that our next goal is VIBER-FOR-ANDROID!
We estimate that this will be ready within the next month or so, but you’ll have to stay tuned for updates as these estimates might change.
Thank you, and as always – feel free to ask any question.
Viber Media.
Hi viber, thanks for update, but….. on Appstore this is Viber 1.1
Yep, that is why I wrote “within the next few days” 🙂
i’m so sorry ^^,I had badly understood
-_-‘ lastest version don’t work with iphone V1 …
Viber officially supports only iPhone 3G and above.
Bounjour everyone,
Could someone please report if Viber is still blocked in Bouygues 3G network?
Thank you,
Viber.
Bonjour,
Bouygues still not working:
I have an iphone 4 with Bouygues, only the text messaging works. Calls do not go through, just rings and rings even though the person has picked up and tried to talk, neither one of us can hear the other (and we were sitting right next to each other). Yes we both have Viber on iphone 4, yes skype works on Bouygues iphone, texts and phone calls. I’ve tried on our US iphone in France via wifi and viber works fine when i call my friends in US, Japan, etc. So seems to be Bouygues still not working…
Very frustrating!
@kt
Thank you very much for your information!
Would it be OK to ask you to contact Bouygues and ask them just why Skype is not blocked, yet Viber is?
This information will help us find a solution to the problem and hopefully enable Viber on Bouygues 3G again.
Hi all,
We have been working hard in the past several weeks on a first version of Viber on Blackberry, and we are now excited to give you a first look.
You can find it here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=225894684118044&set=a.159436647430515.31697.121349544572559&type=1&ref=nf
In addition, I’d like to announce that we are at the very final stages of the closed-group Beta project, and will soon make the Beta version public!
For more info feel free to ask me here and make sure you follow us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/viber
Thanks,
Viber.
Hi everyone,
I’d like to refer a question to all the Viber users on SFR network:
We recently heard that SFR blocked Viber as well now on their 3G network (very sad news)
Do you know if Skype works fine on SFR? (in other words – is it only Viber that’s blocked?)
Merci d’avance!
Hi,
Still working on SFR 🙂

Hi everyone,
We’ve got something for you: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=248718625168983&set=a.159436647430515.31697.121349544572559&type=1&ref=nf
Do you think you know what this is? 🙂
Hey,hey,
Viber on Windows ?
Please let me know when the soft is launched !
++
Hello,
Since the last version, Viber not boot on my V1 iphone (3.1.3).
can offer you a free download later versions of Viber,
thank you
@mistermicke – Please note that Viber officially supports only iPhone 3Gs and above, as stated in our website , and that is probably the reason for the problems you are experiencing. There is no way to rollback Viber it its previous versions since it is an AppStore restriction (only 1 version can be available at any given point). We apologize for the inconvenience 🙁
I have another question for everyone here – it has come to our attention that Bouygues decided to unblock Viber, and it can be used on 3G now.
Is that true? can you confirm this?
thank you for your quick response
I understand that Viber is not for the Iphone V1, however, some older versions running on this device.
I also understand the restriction imposed by Apple.
it would be possible to send me personnelment one (or more) of these older versions in my mailbox, or through a link on your site.
I take the responsibility of the installer on my own.
I would be very grateful, I can not do without this app.
A friend uses Viber with Bouygues and it works without problems, so I can confirm that Bouygues to authorize the use of your app
Thank you very much for your detailed reply.
About your iPhone V1 – unfortunately there is no way for us to manually send you the older version, since only the latest version of Viber can be installed at any given point (again – these are AppStore/iTunes restrictions). That is also why we can only make available the latest version of Viber on AppStore.
But anyway – this wouldn’t help you either, because in Viber 2.1.x we implemented in our new, improved voice engine, and that new engine is not compatible with older Viber versions. So as you can see – there is no running away from upgrading Viber 🙁
I apologize for the inconvenience caused.
About Bouygues – thank you for the info. May I ask two more things?
1. What is the situation on SFR? Do you know/can you please check?
2. When I say “block”, I mean that SFR/Bouygues don’t allow using Viber on the most basic/cheapest plans that users purchase. You say Viber works without a problem for your friend on Bouygues 3G – does your friend pay extra for this or no?
Hi,
First of all, I would like to thank you for handling a support for my visitors 🙂
Concerning SFR, I never had a problem yet !
Let me check properly tomorrow and I’ll let you know.
Regards,
Oo
It is a pleasure of mine! 🙂
Your blog is great and the readers have also been helpful with my questions, as I had the pleasure to answer their questions as well.
By the way – if you have plans of writing a new blog entry regarding Viber, please feel free to contact me for exclusive news & updates (or just questions that you have regarding the app).
I will be waiting for news about the test on SFR (note that the test is relevant only if you have a basic plan).
Hi,
Yes, I’m planning to write a new post. You can contact me on admin-at-persoo.fr for the news & updates. It would be gateful.
Concerning the basic plan, do you means an SFR phone line with limited internet access ? As 200 mo per example ?
Please advise,
Regards,
Oo
thank you for your response. I understand that you can not help me.
Regarding SFR, I can not help you, unfortunately.
good day
@Oo –
I’m not sure about the exact terminology in SFR, but with most cellular companies, the user can either purchase a “basic” 3G data plan, buying a certain amount of MB for “general use”, or pay extra for a plan that allows using VoIP on it (but could also be limited for a certain amount of MB). The difference between the plans is whether you can use VoIP or not (and other premium services, I guess).
Isn’t it the same with French cellular providers?
@Viber –
It’s quiet the same !
I’ll try with one of my friends subscriptions and let you know asap !
